Strong Pourover Brew Recipe: Blue Bottle Coffee Roasters

Recipe Overview

  • Coffee amount: 30g
  • Grind size: Medium/ fine (16 on Baritza Encore)
  • Water: 350g
  • Water temperature: 212°F (100°C)
  • Water-to-coffee Ratio:1:11
  • Brew time: 2:50–3:00 minutes

Equipment

  • Pourover dripper
  • Paper filter
  • Scale
  • Timer
  • Gooseneck kettle
  • Mug or coffee server

Method

  1. Rinse your filter thoroughly and add the ground coffee to the filter. Level the coffee grounds.
  2. Start the timer, pour 60g of water in slow concentric circles. Make sure all the grounds are wet.
  3. At 00:45, Pour an additional 90g (scale will read 150g) in a ‘spiral’ from the center to the edge of the grounds.
  4. At 01:45, pour an additional 100g (scale will read 250g) using the same spiral pouring method.
