Use the “Hell Yes or No” Rule
If an opportunity isn’t a clear and enthusiastic “HELL YES,” it’s a no. Period.
Default to ‘Let Me Think About It’
Instead of agreeing immediately, say:
- “Let me check my priorities and get back to you.”
- “I’ll need to review my commitments first.”
This buys time and keeps you in control.
Master the Art of Polite Refusals
You can decline requests without guilt:
- “Thanks for thinking of me, but I’m focused on other priorities right now.”
- “I’d love to help, but my bandwidth is maxed out at…
