This brewing method comes from Tanner Morita at HEX Coffee in Charlotte, NC

  • Brew time: 1:45
  • Ratio 1:17

Assemble your Gear

  • The Aeropress
  • Aeropress stirring paddle
  • Scale
  • Grinder
  • 15g Coffee beans, ground medium-fine (10 on the Baratza Encore)
  • 255g Water (212F/100C)
  • Gooseneck kettle
  • Mug

Brew Method

  1. Rinse the paper filter and assemble the Aeropress in the standard position (not inverted) over your mug.
  2. Add 15g of ground coffee to the Aeropress, shake to level the coffee.
  3. Start the timer and pour all 255g of water over the coffee. Immediately stir north to south, east to west 5 times. Insert the plunger to prevent the coffee from filtering through.
  4. At 1:00, remove the plunger and repeat the stirring process.
  5. Replace the plunger and press slowly, for 45 seconds. You should feel some resistance.
  6. Remove the Aeropress, serve and enjoy.
