When I first started getting interested in specialty coffee, I struggled to understand how different regions directly effected the flavor profile of the coffee grown there. I would be overwhelmed by the abundance of choice I would have at my local coffee roaster, not knowing which bag of coffee beans, grown in which region would be what I liked best. This is a guide to give you direction when given the opportunity to pick your next bag of coffee.

The Goal: By the end of this article you will know which coffee regions appeal to you, so you can seek them out. You’ll also have a clearer understanding of which new regions you’d like to try and experiment with next.

Listed below are some popular coffee regions that you will most likely find at your local coffee roasters. Take a look at the flavor profiles of each, taking note of those that stick out to you. I have designed this guide to be simple and to the point for easy reference at any point.
