Got Writer's block? Take a Walk
Here’s use the ‘Walk, Think, Work’ method to improve your focus.
We all have tasks that require focus and creativity. You might be writing an essay, an important email, or completing a personal or professional task.
The Walk, Think, Work Method is one to pull out when you feel stuck, can’t concentrate, or are finding yourself procrastinating.
Here’s how to get started:
1. Walk
Taking a short walk outside is an easy way to combine the benefits of both movement and being outdoors, both of which sharpen focus, improve creativity, and reduce stress.
Try to walk to your work spot or get up and walk during your breaks.
2. Think
There are two ways to go about this next step.
The first is to immerse yourself in an environment of resources that will expand your knowledge of whatever you’re working on. This is done while you’re on your walk so audiobooks and podcasts work best here.
Pro tip: Open a note in your phone and note information and future ideas as they come.
The second is to give your mind a break from stimulation and let ideas come to you.
