Classic Chemex Recipe
The Chemex is a favorite of mine, as it always delivers an excellent brew with a rustic and cozy charm.
Below is the method that I’ve been using at home this week. It is a classic Chemex brew method, which makes enough for a single large cup and then some.
Yields 450g. Let’s get started.
What you’ll need:
- The Chemex
- 1 Chemex Filter
- 30g Coffee: Ground medium. (Setting 10 or 11 on a Baratza Encore grinder)
- Gooseneck Kettle
- Water
- Scale
- Timer
- Mug
Set Up:
- Fill up your kettle and set it to boil.
- Unfold your filter, ensuring the tripple-fold section is directed towards the spout of your Chemex.
- Rinse the filter with the now boiled water, ensuring that it is completely saturated. Allow the hot water to flow all the way through and dispose of the rinse water before continuing.
- Grind your 30g of coffee to a medium consistancy. Use setting 10 or 11 on a Baratza Encore grinder.
