A Barista’s Advice to Making Great Coffee at Home
During my four years as a barista, I drastically changed the way I made coffee at home. Obsessed with learning how to get the best result I could when it came to my morning coffee, I brought home the skills I learned at work to my coffee brew routine. Below are some of the changes I made and what has led to achieving daily smooth and flavorful cup.
In this guide, I will not insist that you change the method/machine in which you brew coffee but instead with the beans you’re buying and the way that you grind them. Many people don’t know how crucial these processes are to you overall cup of coffee.
The Beans.
1. Check the Roast Date, Not the Expiry.
Coffee is not wine and should not be saved for a special occasion or bought in bulk. It loses its flavor over time and the best beans for your brew were roasted in the last two weeks. Something you will notice in the coffee world is that better coffee lists the roast date, rather than the expiry date.
